Built in the 1970s, our Sanctuary is showing its age. The carpets are worn and wrinkled. The light fixtures burn through bulbs quickly and are difficult to access on the high ceilings. The pews are outdated, mismatched, and made of particleboard. They groan and creak and have been repaired more times than we can count. The walls have forgotten what it was like to receive a fresh coat of paint.
Every Sunday we come together in our Sanctuary to live into a continually evolving community of faith where āallā means all. But this room serves other purposes as well: here wedding vows are exchanged, mourners gather to honor their loved one, and piano students show off their skills. The Sanctuary hosts music concerts, speaking events, and more.
We plan to replace the carpet with durable carpet tiles and install new light fixtures. The pews will be torn out and replaced with seating that is comfortable and can be rearranged to suit our needs. A new coat of paint will brighten up the space. Our updated Sanctuary will be easier to maintain, more flexible, and appropriate for this day and age. Campaign funds will be directed to this project third. The work will be completed when funds are available, sometime in 2028.
