We believe that faith is an action verb. We are called to put our faith into action, to practice what Jesus preached. We believe that Jesus calls us to serve all of our neighbors, from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth. We walk and serve in love, compassion, and humility.
In addition to serving others through fundraising, mission trips, and more, ZCC is honored to have formed lasting partnerships with a variety of charitable organizations in our community.
Shalom House
Shalom House works together with community partners to provide meals and a sense of community in the Boone County area. Shalom House also runs the Kid’s Sack Lunch program, providing lunches and breakfasts to families with children during school breaks.
ZCC supports Shalom House in many ways, including serving lunches, baking thousands of cookies, and delivering hundreds of meals a year.
The Caring Center
The Caring Center is a multiprogram, not-for-profit organization in Boone County, serving hundreds of needy families and thousands of individuals annually. The Caring Center’s mission is to stabilize families in crisis and to move those caught in poverty towards self-sufficiency.
In addition to fundraising for the Caring Center during special events, ZCC operates a collection spot in our Gathering Space, delivering nonperishable food items, sanitary items, and more on a monthly basis.
Habitat for Humanity of Boone County
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Throughout the years ZCC has been pleased to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s faith builds – building and repairing homes in the Boone County region, as well as offering meals and prayers for the participants.
Central Christian Church Thrift Shop
Staffed entirely by volunteers, the Thrift Shop at Central Christian Church (Indianapolis, IN) offers clothing, shoes, and miscellaneous household items at reasonable prices, with money raised going to support ministries in the community.
For many years, ZCC has partnered with Central Christian Church to support this ministry, providing volunteers as well as donated items.
Week of Compassion
As the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Week of Compassion works with partners to alleviate suffering throughout the world. Money raised goes to help people in times of disaster, refugees… wherever there is a need.
Each year ZCC joins with other Disciples congregations in raising money for this important fund.
