One day in February, after warmer weather had melted the ice dam on our roof, preschool staff members and volunteers working in the building discovered water… everywhere. Pouring from the ceiling in the Fellowship Hall, dripping down into the Gingerbread House Preschool rooms, soaking under our HVAC unit, damaging ceilings in the Gathering Space, Sanctuary, nursery, restrooms, choir room, and more. At least twenty different areas were affected.
We knew our roof was in need of replacement, but this event kicked things into high gear. Interior remediation is already underway, but without a new roof, water damage will certainly happen again.
We plan to remove the roof, repair the decking as needed, install ice shields, and install new shingles, gutters, and downspouts. Our new roof will be durable and better suited to our Indiana weather. This work will be done as soon as possible. Campaign funds will be directed to this project first.
